Terri Thoman’s works are gestural representations inspired by events in nature. Her observations explore the balance of beauty and horror, capturing the stratum of air, earth, and water.

This print uses the Japanese Mokuhanga technique, a traditional woodblock printing method that differs from Western relief printing. Instead of oil-based inks and mechanical presses, Mokuhanga employs water-based pigments applied with brushes to carved wood blocks. The image is printed by hand using a baren on dampened Japanese paper.
